Guest retention for hotels and resorts — recognise the people who come back

A hotel guest is not a coffee regular. They may stay twice a year, spend heavily while they are on property, and arrive as a complete stranger every single time because the booking came through an OTA and the folio closed when they checked out. Retention here is not about frequency. It is about recognition, direct relationships and lifetime value.

Built for

  • City hotels and business hotels
  • Beach and desert resorts
  • Serviced apartments and extended stay
  • Hotel groups running several properties

What actually goes wrong

The OTA owns the guest, not you

You pay commission for a booking and receive a masked email address. The guest who loved the stay has no reason and no route to book direct next time, so you pay commission again to win back someone you already had.

A returning guest arrives as a stranger

They stayed nine months ago, they always ask for a high floor, and nobody at the desk knows. Recognition is the cheapest luxury a hotel can offer and the one most often missed.

On-property spend is invisible

The room is one relationship, the restaurant is another, the spa is a third. Nobody sees the guest whole, so nobody knows which guests are actually worth the most.

Nothing happens between stays

The gap between a checkout and the next booking is where the relationship is won or lost, and for most properties it is silence — until a rate email that goes to everyone.

What LoyaltyJuice does about it

A guest identity that survives checkout

One record per guest, keyed on the number they actually use, that persists between stays rather than closing with the folio.

Recognition the desk can act on

Whoever is on the desk can see that this guest has stayed before and where they stand, without anyone having to remember them personally.

Earning across the whole property

Rooms, restaurant, spa, café. The guest collects on everything under your roof, which is also how you find out what a guest is really worth rather than what their room rate says.

Win-back timed to a stay cycle

A guest who has not been back in the time they normally take is the signal. The automation reaches them before the OTA retargeting does, in their language.

VIP recognition without a tier chart

Your highest-value guests surface from what they actually spend and how often they return, not from a status card they had to apply for.

Several properties, one account

A group runs each property as its own brand, with its own programme, reward, branches and staff, under one login. The limit, stated plainly: a guest who stays at two of your properties is two records today, one per property. The system separates them deliberately — joining them into a single group-wide guest is on the roadmap and is not built.

How it runs on property

  1. 1

    At check-in

A phone number enrols the guest, or matches them to the stay they had last year.

  2. 2

    During the stay

Spend on property is credited to the same guest, so the record reflects the whole visit and not just the room.

  3. 3

    At checkout

The guest leaves with a card in their phone wallet — a direct line that does not run through a booking site.

  4. 4

    Between stays

Automations handle the months of silence, and the system flags guests who are overdue against their own pattern.

PMS and POS: integration-ready, not integrated

Being straight about this matters more than a logo wall. LoyaltyJuice does not today integrate with Opera, Protel, Cloudbeds or any other PMS. The data model is built for it — guests, properties, brands and transactions are separate entities with stable identifiers and an idempotent transaction record keyed on an external reference, which is exactly what a PMS or POS feed needs to write into. A property can run it alongside an existing PMS now, with the phone number as the join. If a live PMS integration is a requirement rather than a preference for you, this is not ready for you yet.

Questions hotels ask

Does this replace our PMS?
No, and it does not try to. It sits beside it and owns the guest relationship between stays, which is the part a PMS is not designed to do.
How is this different from a global hotel loyalty programme?
A chain programme pools guests across thousands of properties and gives you points liability plus a brand standard. This is your own guest list, your own reward, and your own direct channel — useful precisely if you are independent or a small group.
Can each property have a different reward?
Yes. Each property runs as its own brand with its own programme, reward and branches, under one account.
Will this work for a resort where guests stay once a year?
It will recognise them and reach them, which is most of the value at that frequency. It will not manufacture visits that a once-a-year guest was never going to make, and you should be suspicious of anything that claims it will.

Start with one property

Run it on a single property through a full season before rolling it across a group. If the recognition at the desk does not change how guests are greeted, nothing else in this page matters.
